Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, appears to be losing her parliamentary seat in the Ablekuma West constituency. Early results indicate that Rev. Kwaku Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a significant lead in the ongoing vote count.
As of now, with 145 out of 224 polling stations reported, Owusu-Ekuful has secured 16,304 votes, while Addo leads with 20,444 votes—over a 4,000-vote margin. The results are part of a nationwide electoral process that is proceeding mostly peacefully, although some isolated incidents of violence have been reported, including a fatality in the Tolon Constituency.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged patience among Ghanaians and political parties as they work to ensure a transparent and accurate counting process. The 2024 elections are significant, taking place across 276 constituencies and featuring a diverse slate of candidates.
As the counting continues, the political landscape in Ablekuma West may undergo a substantial shift, marking a pivotal moment for both the constituency and the NPP. This election cycle highlights the dynamic nature of Ghana’s political arena and the evolving sentiments of the electorate.
