Former Black Stars player Samuel Inkoom is in hot water again, facing serious legal charges in an Accra Circuit Court. The 34-year-old footballer has been accused of defrauding Benjamin Opare Addo, a student, by collecting $3,500 under the pretense of securing a visa for travel to the Netherlands.
Inkoom has pleaded not guilty to the charges. During the court proceedings, he was granted bail set at GH₵50,000 with one surety and is scheduled to return to court on December 30, 2024. His lawyer argued for bail by highlighting that Inkoom had already refunded GH₵7,000 and is working to return the remaining GH₵25,100.
According to the prosecution, Inkoom, claiming to be the owner of S. Inkoom Travel and Tour Company, convinced Addo to pay the visa fee in installments between September and November 2023. However, he failed to deliver the promised visa within the agreed timeframe. After numerous attempts to recover his money, Addo reported the case to the police, leading to Inkoom’s arrest on January 11, 2024.
This latest incident adds to a series of challenges for Inkoom, raising questions about his future and reputation in both sports and business. The upcoming court date will be crucial in determining the outcome of this case.
