
The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a reported attack on the convoy of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which occurred on December 2, 2024, in Techiman. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident took place as the Asantehene and his entourage were returning from a funeral in Nkoranza.
According to police statements, a group of youths allegedly threw stones at the buses in the Asantehene’s convoy during their journey back to Kumasi. The attack has raised significant security concerns, with many citizens calling for the arrest of those responsible.
In response to the incident, the police are collaborating with the Manhyia Palace and other local stakeholders to gather more information. They have urged the public to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
While some social media videos have circulated showing the aftermath of the attack, the Manhyia Palace has clarified that many of the claims regarding the attack are exaggerated or false. They urged the public to disregard misinformation circulating online.
