Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been omitted from Ghana’s Black Stars squad for their upcoming matches against Angola and Niger.
Head coach Otto Addo’s 25-man squad selection features two notable changes – Partey’s absence and the inclusion of three local league players.
Key absences from the squad include both Partey and defender Mohammed Salisu. While Partey’s omission wasn’t injury-related, Salisu is sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan.
The local players who earned spots in the squad are Samartex’s Isaac Afful, Nations FC defender Razak Simpson, and Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi.
The Black Stars’ World Cup qualifying campaign has been challenging so far, with no victories in their first four matches – recording two losses and two draws.
The team needs to secure wins in both upcoming fixtures against Angola and Niger, while hoping for unfavorable results for Sudan to maintain their qualification hopes.
Ghana’s schedule includes an away match against Angola in Luanda on November 15, followed by a home game against Niger on November 19 to conclude the qualifying series.
