Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the chairman of the newly formed Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee, announced that his team will work without financial compensation. During their inaugural meeting, Ablakwa emphasized that the committee, tasked with implementing President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s anti-corruption initiatives, will not receive salaries, allowances, or fuel allowances.
Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, affirmed that the committee’s activities will not burden the Ghanaian taxpayer. He stated, “We shall not be receiving salaries, allowances, per diems, or fuel coupons. None of our activities will come at a cost to the taxpayer.” This commitment reflects the team’s dedication to serving the nation without financial incentives.
The five-member committee, which includes notable figures such as former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo and legal expert Martin Kpebu, aims to recover public resources misappropriated by officials. As part of Mahama’s campaign promise, ORAL is designed to gather information on suspected corruption and ensure accountability.
Ablakwa expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the trust placed in the team and reiterated their readiness to tackle corruption for the benefit of Ghana. This proactive approach underscores a commitment to integrity and public service as the team prepares to begin its crucial work.
