Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who represents North Tongu in Parliament, has addressed growing speculation about his potential role in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2028 elections. The discussion came up during a recent appearance on TV3’s KeyPoints program.
The conversation started when lawyer Martin Kpebu suggested that Ablakwa would be an excellent choice for the NDC’s vice presidential candidate position in 2028. According to Kpebu, while Ablakwa has the qualities to be a presidential candidate, his age might make some people prefer him as a running mate instead.
However, Ablakwa’s response was modest and straightforward. When faced with these suggestions, he simply said “I beg you, ooo, I beg you” multiple times, clearly wanting to avoid such discussions about his political future.
This speculation isn’t surprising given Ablakwa’s political background. He has been serving North Tongu as their Member of Parliament since 2008. During his political career, he has held important positions including:
- Deputy Minister of Information
- Deputy Minister of Education
- Current Chairman of Parliament’s Government Assurance Committee
The rising interest in Ablakwa’s political future comes after his recent work exposing various issues has gained significant public attention. Despite this increased spotlight, Ablakwa appears focused on his current duties rather than future political positions.
