Former President Kufuor thinks the four MPs who want to run as independent candidates in 2024 aren’t really switching sides. He believes their choice to run independently shouldn’t have led to the current mess in Parliament.
“These four people running as independents aren’t abandoning their party. Their decision only matters for the next Parliament, not the current one,” Kufuor explained.
He went on to say he’s confused about how this whole thing ended up in the Supreme Court. He mentioned that since the Speaker hasn’t made any official decision yet, Parliament should go back to normal so they can finish their work properly.
Kufuor also pointed out that with elections coming up, Ghanaians will get to pick their leaders. He doesn’t think all these political games are necessary. He asked the Speaker to be clear that no formal ruling has been made. This way, when Ghanaians choose which party they want in charge, that party’s leader can fix these problems and pass needed laws.
