Ofori Atta Wanted Poster
In a shocking turn of events, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a wanted notice for Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Minister of Finance. This announcement has sent ripples through Ghana’s political landscape, highlighting ongoing investigations into various allegations against him.
The OSP released a poster featuring Ofori-Atta’s image along with key details, including his age, gender, eye color, and potential locations where he might be found, such as the United Kingdom and the United States. The poster prominently displays the word “WANTED,” underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
The charges against Ofori-Atta are extensive. They include issues related to the Strategic Mobilization-GRA Contract, the termination of the ECG-GXC contract, payments concerning the National Cathedral, the Ambulance Procurement Contract, and the utilization of tax refund accounts. These allegations paint a concerning picture of potential mismanagement and corruption.
This latest development follows a press conference held by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on February 12, 2025. During this briefing, Agyebeng emphasized the urgency for Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana to answer questions regarding these allegations. He warned that if Ofori-Atta fails to comply, measures will be taken to ensure his return.
Agyebeng also dismissed claims that Ofori-Atta had left the country for medical treatment, insisting that the former minister must cooperate fully with the ongoing investigations. Moreover, he refuted reports suggesting that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence, alleging instead that the former minister had staged the raid to mislead the public.
Ken Ofori-Atta is not the only former official under scrutiny; several other appointees from the previous government are also facing investigations. This situation has sparked widespread interest and concern among Ghanaians, who are eager for accountability and transparency in governance.
