Rev. Charlotte Oduro and her husband
Rev. Charlotte Oduro has publicly responded to the divorce petition filed by her husband, Apostle Solomon Oduro. This legal battle has revealed deep personal issues between the couple, who have been married for 16 years. Apostle Oduro’s petition, submitted to the Kwabenya Circuit Court in April 2024, included serious allegations against Rev. Oduro, claiming a lack of intimacy and ongoing disrespect.
In his petition, Apostle Oduro stated that he found his wife unattractive and that she had ceased to fulfill her role as a partner. He also cited incidents of emotional and physical abuse, claiming they had only engaged in sexual relations 12 times during their marriage.
In her response, Rev. Oduro acknowledged some of his claims but refuted many others. She denied failing to contribute to household expenses, explaining that she supported the church financially during her pregnancy and times of ill health. She emphasized that the church’s earnings were used to cover household bills and that she provided clothing and utility payments for their children.
Rev. Oduro also countered allegations of her causing Apostle Oduro’s distress. She asserted that it was he who had acted violently, creating an environment where she feared for her safety. She described his behavior as disrespectful and claimed he often refused to communicate with her.
Regarding claims about a chef preparing meals at home, she clarified that there was no chef, but rather a church member who had entered their home without her consent. While she did not confirm the specific claim about cooking from their master bedroom, she pointed out the lack of open communication and respect in their relationship.
On the topic of their sexual relationship, Rev. Oduro stated that they had not shared a bed for the past two years, and she confirmed they had not engaged in sexual relations for about seven years. This acknowledgment highlights the extent of their marital issues.
Rev. Charlotte Oduro is now seeking full custody of their children, reasonable visitation rights for Apostle Oduro, and financial support for their upbringing. She has requested a monthly payment of GH¢10,000, along with a lump sum of GH¢1 million. Additionally, she is asking for either half of their matrimonial home or a four-bedroom apartment of her choice.
This ongoing divorce proceedings underscore the complexities of their relationship and the challenges they face as they navigate personal and legal disputes. As the case unfolds, many will be watching to see how these issues are resolved, particularly regarding the welfare of their children and the financial matters at stake.
