Cecilia Dapaah - Former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources
Cecilia Dapaah, the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, has firmly denied allegations that she received $43 million for the Odaw River dredging project. These claims have been addressed by her aide, Kofi Mensah, who described the accusations as baseless and malicious.
In a recent statement, Mensah clarified that the funds in question, amounting to $42.2 million, were allocated to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources. These funds are part of the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project, aimed at improving solid waste management in the region. He emphasized that the money remains under the ministry’s control and has not been misappropriated.
Mensah explained that as Cecilia Dapaah left office, procurement processes were still ongoing to engage both local and international consultants for the project. He urged anyone seeking further clarification to reach out to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
Additionally, Mensah highlighted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor had previously investigated Dapaah and cleared her of any corruption charges. This investigation reaffirmed her integrity and commitment to public service.
Addressing rumors about Cecilia Dapaah fleeing the country, Mensah dismissed these as unfounded. He stated, “Honourable Dapaah has not travelled out of the country in the last two years.” He pointed out that she had recently attended funerals in Kumasi, reinforcing her presence in the country.
Mensah expressed disappointment over the ongoing spread of false information about Dapaah. He cautioned against dragging her name into baseless controversies. He concluded by reaffirming Dapaah’s dedication to Ghana’s development and her commitment to maintaining her reputation amidst these challenges.
