Techiman has become a focal point of concern following violent attacks on VIP buses carrying the entourage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The incident occurred while the group was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza for Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani II. Reports indicate that the buses were targeted by local youth, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including a child.
Videos shared on social media depict the aftermath of the attacks, with passengers expressing their frustration and fear. One post ominously warned, “Our buses have been attacked at Techiman. Asante will strike back bigly.” Another echoed sentiments of confusion and anger, questioning why such violence occurred.
The traditional bodyguard of the Asantehene, Nana Kwame Amo, known as Sledge Bonnah, condemned the attacks and suggested that retaliation might follow. However, the Manhyia Palace has since clarified that many of the circulating claims about the attacks are exaggerated or false, urging the public to disregard the misinformation.
In the wake of these events, calls for accountability and the arrest of those responsible have surged. The situation has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many expressing outrage over the violence and its implications for community relations in Techiman.
