Ghanaian musician King Paluta has found himself at the center of speculation regarding his affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Despite his frequent performances at NPP events and his close ties with party leaders, Paluta insists that he is not a member of the party.
In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, known as Delay, he openly addressed the rumors surrounding his political connections. “I am not an NPP member. I don’t carry a party card; it’s a Ghana Card I’ve got,” he stated firmly. His involvement with the NPP, he explained, stems from an invitation he received from Vice President Bawumia to perform at their rallies, which he felt obligated to honor.
The speculation about his political ties intensified after photos surfaced of him traveling on a plane with Vice President Bawumia and other prominent NPP figures. This visibility led many to assume that he was more than just a performer for the party. However, Paluta clarified that his relationship with politicians is purely professional and based on respect. “I was just giving respect to whom respect is due,” he noted.
Paluta also reflected on his aspirations as an artist, sharing that he has always dreamed of associating with influential figures. He drew inspiration from American artists like Tupac, who often collaborated with politicians and public figures. “Growing up in my career, I noticed how they rolled and fraternized with some officials,” he explained, emphasizing that his desire to connect with influential people has been a long-standing ambition.
Despite the rumors, Paluta made it clear that he enjoys performing at events for various parties but does not align himself with any political group. He believes that artists should engage with politicians while maintaining their independence.
